The Bobcats picked up their 12th win of the season on Friday evening, as they defeated Waldorf College by a score of 90-71.

Brandt Cochran opened up the half with a jump shot.  Heath Carmichael followed with a three-pointer, and Cochran hit two additional treys, allowing the Cats to jump out to an 11-2 lead in the first four minutes of the half.  In the process, the Cats pulled down four defensive rebounds and Treydon Rackley forced two turnovers.   Following a timeout, Waldorf began to chip away at the lead, pulling into a 15-15 tie with 12:46 remaining.  The two teams were tied again at 19 and 21 before Waldorf would grab their first and only lead of the game at 23-21.  The Bobcats then went on a 12-point run to give them a 10-point advantage, 33-23, at the 4:30 mark. The Cats and Warriors exchanged baskets to close out the half with CofO taking a 41-31 lead to the locker room.

The Warriors managed to pull within seven points of the Bobcats midway through the second half at 58-51, but the Cats’ three-point shots just kept coming.  Back-to-back treys by Cochran and Carmichael dashed the Warriors’ hopes, as the Cats again took a double-digit lead.  The Cats pulled away to close out the game with a 90-71 finish.

The Bobcats netted 17 of 30 three-pointers on the night (56.7%) and shot 49.3% from the field.  Waldorf made just three of 17 trey attempts in the game (17.6%) and shot 43.1% from the field.  As a team, the Bobcats dished out 25 assists and nabbed nine steals.  Waldorf held the rebounding advantage at 40 to the Cats’ 35.

Leading the Bobcats on the night was Davidson with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Carmichael added 20 points, hitting 6 of 7 three-pointers, and handed off five assists.  Cochran and Rackley each scored 18 points.  Cochran also contributed 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals, while Rackley pulled down 5 rebounds, dished 3 assists, and nabbed a game-leading 3 steals.

Friday’s victory takes the Bobcats’ season record to 12-3.  The Cats will face a tough Bellevue squad on Saturday, with tip off at 3:00 p.m.
