Bobcat Golf Plays in A.I.I. Conference Championship

College of the Ozarks men’s golf team traveled to Phoenix, Arizona this week to play in the A.I.I. Conference Tournament.

The tournament was held at the newly renovated Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park.  The men played the gold course, which is described as being challenging on every hole, featuring long par 4’s, epic par 5’s, and small elevated greens.  Par is 72, and the course plays 7,430 yards.

Most teams found the "challenging" descriptor to be true, with an average score of 83.8 posted over the three rounds of play.  Our Lady of the Lake and Victoria (BC) were tied at the end of play Tuesday, and Our Lady of the Lake took first place by winning the playoff.

The Bobcats finished 14th of 17 teams, and Caleb Davis led his team with a 51st place finish out of 82 golfers.  Caleb shot 83 in both rounds on Monday and closed the tournament on Tuesday with a round of 80.  Sam Watson, Chandler Tidwell, and Eric Powell all moved up on the leaderboard as well, taking 10 strokes or more apiece off of Monday’s second round.  Watson posted an 81 on Tuesday, Tidwell an 85, and Powell a 91.  Heath Carmichael had to withdraw in Tuesday’s round.

The Bobcats will return home in time to attend the annual year-end Athletic Banquet Wednesday evening.
