The Lady Bobcats volleyball team added yet one more accolade this past week to their hefty 2017 season collection, as they were named as an NCCAA Fall 2017 Scholar Team.
To be eligible for this National Christian College Athletic Association award, teams need a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a 4.00 scale for all combined student-athletes on the team. The Lady Bobcats' Team GPA was an impressive 3.497.
Achieving an award of this nature requires a great deal of hard work and determination by the players. When a team is playing their season, they are juggling practice schedules, game days, travel, classroom attendance, and homework. In addition, all student-athletes at College of the Ozarks are also adding a 15-hour per week job assignment to their juggling routine. Team accomplishments also require a focused coach, like Coach Muckenthaler, who works to prepare game schedules that allow minimal time missed from classes and mentors players on the importance of keeping up with their class assignments, class attendance, and job performance along with the training and practice required for their sport..
The Lady Bobcats closed out their 2017 season with a record of 30-7, claiming the conference championship and advancing to play in the NAIA National Championship tournament.
