The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced 312 women’s basketball student-athletes have been named 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. College of the Ozarks is proud to recognize two Lady Bobcat student-athletes who are receiving the 2019 award—Madisen Brethower and Ashley Forrest.
In order to be nominated by an institution and receive this honor, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
“We are very proud of these student-athletes,” stated Athletic Director Steve Shepherd. “While it is always a challenge for student-athletes to invest well in their studies during their season of competition, it is especially so for College of the Ozarks’ athletes. In addition to balancing the rigors of the classroom while practicing, competing, and traveling for their sport, all of our student-athletes work 15 hours per week at an on-campus work assignment to cover the cost of their tuition.”
Great job, Madi & Ashley!
