The Bobcat and Lady Bobcat golf teams went on the road this week to play in the Lyon College Invitational at Cooper’s Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne, Arkansas. Cooper’s Hawk, rated the top public golf course in Arkansas three years in a row, featured zoysia fairways and bent grass greens. The men’s championship tees played just over 6,800 yards. The women’s tee boxes measured in at 5,802. The Bobcat golfers enjoyed good weather on Monday and even better weather on Tuesday, which was reflected in the scoring.
Lady Bobcat Skylar Kistler shot a team best 89 on Tuesday, which is her lowest round of the year. Kate Voss and Ashley Stanphill finished tied with each other, scoring identical rounds on Monday and Tuesday of 99 and 100 respectively. However, it wasn’t enough, as the Lady Bobcats finished 5th out of five teams. For detailed tournament results, please see the links below.
The men improved as a team on Tuesday, posting a score of 315, seven strokes better than their opening round. Ricardo Devoto led the charge, shooting a team best 75 on Tuesday. Jon Bell finished highest on the individual leader board for the Bobcats, scoring a two-day total of 158, which was good for 34th place. Bobcat Caleb Davis rounded out the team’s top three, scoring a 79 on Monday and an 81 on Tuesday. The Bobcats finished 9th out of 9 teams.
While each team finished at the bottom of a very tough leader board, Coach Chris Larsen was pleased to see the way the teams bounced back on day two and is excited about the growth shown this season.
Next, the men's and women's golf teams travel to the Williams Baptist University Invitational on April 8th and 9th at Big Creek Golf Course in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
